Why researchers care about peptides

1. Choose your compound

Start with one goal, not five. Fat loss, recovery, sleep, skin, or cognition — each has a well-studied lead peptide. One variable at a time means you actually know what worked.

2. Reconstitute correctly

Every lyophilized (freeze-dried) vial needs bacteriostatic water. Aim the stream at the glass wall, never directly onto the powder, and swirl — never shake. The powder should dissolve into a clear solution in under a minute.

3. Store it right

Unmixed vials are stable at room temperature and best kept in the fridge (2–8°C). Once reconstituted, refrigerate and use within 28–30 days. Keep it out of direct light and never freeze a mixed vial.

4. Track everything

Reconstitution, step by step

  1. Wipe both rubber stoppers — the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water — with an alcohol swab and let them dry.
  2. Draw your chosen volume of bacteriostatic water (commonly 2 mL or 3 mL) into a syringe.
  3. Insert the needle at an angle so the water runs down the inside glass wall of the peptide vial.
  4. Let it dissolve. Swirl gently if needed. Never shake — agitation can damage the peptide chain.
  5. Label the vial with the date mixed, then refrigerate. Use within 28–30 days.

What exactly is a peptide?

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids — the same building blocks as the proteins your body already makes. Because they are small and highly specific, they act like keys that fit a single lock: one receptor, one signal, one job. That specificity is why research interest exploded over the last decade.

What is bacteriostatic water and why do I need it?

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which suppresses bacterial growth so a vial stays usable for weeks after mixing. Plain sterile water has no preservative and is single-use only. Always use bacteriostatic water for multi-use research vials.

How much bacteriostatic water do I add?

There is no single right answer — the volume you add just decides the concentration. Most researchers use 2 mL or 3 mL per 10 mg vial because it produces clean, easy-to-measure numbers on an insulin syringe. Our dosage calculator does the math instantly.

What syringe should I use?

A 1 mL (100-unit) insulin syringe with a 29–31 gauge, 5/16" needle is the standard for measuring small volumes. A larger 3 mL syringe is used to draw and add the bacteriostatic water during reconstitution, not to measure doses.

How long until something happens?

It depends entirely on the compound. Metabolic peptides show measurable changes in weeks. Repair and healing peptides are typically studied over 4–8 week windows. Cosmetic and skin compounds are usually assessed at 6–12 weeks. Patience beats stacking.
